What Is the Inventory?
The inventory is your organisation’s own list of the AI services it has chosen to use. You pick them from the service catalogue, and Velatir groups them under the provider they come from, for example ChatGPT under OpenAI. Any service that is used but is not in the inventory counts as Shadow AI. Declaring a service tells Velatir it is sanctioned, so you can tell sanctioned use apart from everything else in Insights and Sessions. Open Inventory from the sidebar.Every member with access to the whole organisation can view the inventory. Only administrators can declare, undeclare, or record treatments. See Roles & permissions.
Declare Services
Open the picker
In Inventory, select Declare service(s). The service catalogue opens with your declared services already selected.
Select the services you use
Search or filter the catalogue and tick each service your organisation uses. You can also open a service and tick Declared service from its detail view.
Confirm
Close the picker with your selection. New services appear under their provider, and the page scrolls to the first one you added.
Declaring or undeclaring many services at once
Declaring or undeclaring many services at once
The inventory is meant for the services your organisation has chosen, so most organisations add a few at a time. If a single change declares or undeclares more than 100 services, Velatir asks you to confirm it first. Changes of 1,000 services or more at once are not accepted. Select fewer and try again.
The Inventory Page
Each provider has its own card. The card lists the provider’s declared services, and for providers Velatir can connect to, its connections. Use Find by service or provider at the top of the page to narrow the list. Searching for a provider shows all of its services. Each declared service shows:
The risk assessment, treatments, and changelog are covered in Service risk.
Undeclare a Service
Select Undeclare on the service’s row and confirm. The service leaves the inventory, and its use counts as Shadow AI from then on. Its treatments and changelog are kept. Velatir stops raising changes to the service unless it still holds an active treatment.Declared Services Elsewhere in Velatir
Sessions
A small mark next to each service name shows whether it is declared or Shadow AI. Filter with Service type (Declared or Shadow AI) and Service risk (Criticals, Cautions or Treatments).
Insights
The Shadow AI vs. Declared service use chart compares the two, and the Service type filter narrows every view. Select a service and choose View sessions to open its sessions for the same period and filters.

Read a service’s risk assessment, record treatments, and review changes.
Connectors
Connect a provider to bring in its activity, licences, and seats.
