What is a Session?

A session represents a complete AI interaction in your organisation. When an employee chats with an AI assistant, runs a multi-step automation, or uses an AI-powered tool, Velatir captures the entire exchange as a session. Sessions are the primary way you monitor AI usage in Velatir. Each session contains one or more traces, the individual messages, requests, and responses that make up the interaction.

How Sessions Work

1

Interaction Begins

An employee starts using an AI service. For example, opening a conversation with ChatGPT or triggering an AI-powered workflow.
2

Traces Are Captured

Each message, request, or response in the interaction is captured as a trace. Traces are automatically grouped into the session based on context.
3

Agents Evaluate

As traces arrive, your active agents evaluate each one for compliance. The session view shows you the overall status, whether everything is fine or if any trace was flagged.
4

Session Updates

The session status reflects the state of its traces. If a trace is escalated for review, the session shows Awaiting Action. Once resolved, the session returns to normal.

Viewing Sessions

In the Velatir dashboard:
  1. Go to Sessions to see all sessions in your workspace
  2. Filter by status, source, or date range
  3. Click a session to see all its traces in chronological order
  4. Review agent evaluations for any flagged traces within the session
